Publishing & Sharing

Welcome to the Publishing & Sharing page. This guide will walk you through the process of taking your completed templates and making them available to the world. Whether you are sharing a form with a client, distributing a flyer template to your team, or collecting submissions from thousands of users, Diterr provides a comprehensive set of tools to publish, share, and manage your templates securely and efficiently.

Tip: Publishing generates a unique shareable link that you can distribute via email, social media, or embed directly into your website.

Publishing Templates

Publishing a template is the process of generating a shareable link that allows others to view and interact with your template. The link can be shared via email, social media, embedded in a website, or distributed in any other way.

Creating a Share Link

How to publish:

  1. Open the template you want to publish in the editor.
  2. Click the Export button in the toolbar.
  3. The Export Modal will open, displaying the share configuration options.
  4. Fill in the required information (Name, Description, etc.).
  5. Configure additional settings (Password, Expiry, View Limits, etc.).
  6. Click "Export & Generate Link" to create the share link.
  7. The link will be generated and automatically copied to your clipboard.

What happens when you publish: A unique, secure URL is generated for your template. The template is made available at that URL, and the share link is saved to your account for future management. You can view, update, or revoke the share at any time.

Configuring Share Settings

When you publish a template, you can configure a variety of settings to control how it is accessed and used:

Setting Description
Template NameThe name of the template (displayed to users).
DescriptionA short description of the template (optional).
RefererRestrict access to specific websites or domains.
Expiry DateWhen the share link should expire.
Never ExpiresThe share link remains active indefinitely.
Max ViewsLimit the number of times the template can be viewed.
PasswordProtect the template with a password.
Allow DownloadAllow users to download the template (if enabled).

Managing Shares

Once you have published a template, you can manage its shares from the Templates page.

Viewing Active Shares

From the Templates page, you can see which templates have active shares and view their share settings.

  • How to view: Go to the Templates page, locate the template, and click the Share button or icon to open the Share Modal.
  • What you can see: The share link URL, password status, expiry date, view limit, number of views so far, referer restrictions, and download status.

Revoking Shares

You can revoke a share link at any time, making it immediately inaccessible.

  • How to revoke: Open the Share Modal for the template, click the Revoke or Delete button, and confirm.
  • What happens: The share link stops working immediately. Users who try to access it will see a message indicating the template is no longer available.

When to revoke: The template is no longer relevant, you have published an updated version, the share link has been compromised, or the campaign has ended.

Updating Share Settings

You can update the share settings at any time without generating a new link.

  • What you can update: Password, expiry date, view limit, referer restrictions, and Allow Download status.
  • How to update: Open the Share Modal, make the changes, and save.
  • What happens: The share link remains the same. The updated settings take effect immediately.

The End‑User Experience

When someone accesses your shared template, they are presented with a clean, focused view that is optimized for interaction and submission.

Viewing a Shared Template

  • The template is displayed as designed in the editor.
  • All elements (text, images, shapes) are rendered.
  • All fields (Labels, Inputs) are interactive and functional.
  • The header and footer provide context (template name, description, etc.).
  • If the template is password‑protected, the user is prompted to enter the password.

Filling and Submitting

  • Users can enter text, select options from dropdowns, choose from radios and checkboxes, upload files, and select dates.
  • On submission, the data is validated (frontend validation).
  • If validation passes, the data is sent to the backend.
  • The user receives a confirmation message.
  • The submission is stored in the Submissions page.

Downloading the Template

If you have enabled Allow Download, users can download the template as a file.

  • What users can download: PDF (for printable content), image (for flyers and posters), CSV (for form submissions).
  • How it works: The user clicks the download button, the file is generated and downloaded to their device.

Best Practices

Security Considerations

  • Use passwords for sensitive content – always protect templates that contain confidential information.
  • Set expiry dates – limit the lifetime of share links to reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
  • Use referer restrictions – restrict access to trusted domains when embedding content.
  • Limit views – for exclusive content, set a view limit to control exposure.
  • Revoke shares when no longer needed – clean up unused shares to reduce the attack surface.

User Experience

  • Provide clear instructions – include a description or instructions to help users understand what to do.
  • Test the sharing experience – always preview the shared template to ensure everything works as expected.
  • Use descriptive template names – help users understand what the template is for.
  • Set realistic view limits – don't set view limits that are too low, which may frustrate users.
  • Enable downloads when appropriate – if users need a printable version, allow downloads.

Analytics and Tracking

  • Monitor view counts – track how many users are accessing your templates.
  • Track submissions – monitor the number of submissions to measure engagement.
  • Use referer data – understand where users are coming from.
  • Revoke underperforming shares – if a share is not being used, consider revoking it.

Publishing and sharing are the final steps in the template creation journey. With Diterr's flexible sharing system, you have full control over how your templates are accessed, used, and managed.

  • Publishing – generate shareable links for your templates.
